All ETI cylinder assemblies use the ETI relief valve as the approved over pressure safety device. For 370mm cylinders it is mounted in the filler plug as shown below. For 230mm cylinders the relief is mounted in a ¼” BSP on the top of the cylinder and for LES it is mounted on the valve. These types use RCOVERC to protect the relief valve from foreign material. Safety relief devices are mandatory to AS5062 and must be maintained to AS2613. The standard pressure relief valve is 20 bar nominal. This is better than types in other systems that have much higher relief pressures. The ETI relief valve will discharge with a much earlier warning to over pressure accidents and before cylinders are exposed to very high and dangerous pressures.
Please note that technical bulletin 029 was released in July 2011. This announced that a better design was released for the relief valve that is internally pressure set with an epoxy cap that prevented tampering. All dealers were advised to replace these no later than the next 12 month service. The obsolete version shown below is now non-compliant to ETI listings.
